TORBSA is hiring! Vice President – Business Development

TORBSA is a Shareholder-owned Canadian Buying Group of Independent Building Material Dealers established in 1966. The groups focus is to offer the independent business, whether Commercial or Specialty Dealer, or Lumber and Building Material yards, a transparent, low-cost and relationship driven choice. It is the Group's collective buying power that allows us to develop, negotiate and facilitate opportunities to grow the Shareholders' Business.

The Vice President, Business Development assists and leads the front end of our Development process. The role will take responsibility for growing our portfolio by focusing on finding and securing new Shareholders for the TORBSA Group. New Shareholders would consist of Commercial, Specialty Dealers or Lumber and Building Material yards.

Key Accountabilities

  • Grow the current group of Shareholders within TORBSA, specifically in Quebec, Eastern Ontario and Atlantic Canada, through acquisition of independent businesses
  • Grow Shareholders, improve profitability, to substantiate the addition of future business development personnel across Canada


  • Promote mission and values of the organization
  • Solicit, establish and maintain business relationships with prospective independent building material dealers to generate growth of the group across the Canadian marketplace
  • Support the existing Shareholders
  • Participate in Trade shows and Conventions related to the Building or construction industry
  • Develop and maintain vendor relationships
  • Facilitate ongoing negotiations on behalf of all Shareholders
  • Assist in coordination of vendor and corporate meetings for relationship development
  • Act responsibly and professionally when carrying out duties of Vice President, Business Development
  • Willingness to travel, as necessary to facilitate the growth of TORBSA, is essential

Education & Experience

  • Undergraduate degree preferred
  • 10-15 years of direct work experience in the building material sector
  • Ability to speak fluently in both French and English are mandatory
  • Must be computer literate in all Microsoft based systems (Word, Excel, Access)
  • Knowledge of the building material and construction industry
  • Knowledge of buying groups and how they function within the Canadian market is essential
